CIAMPINO AIRPORT

CIAMPINO AIRPORT

Rome - Ciampino "GB Pastine" International Airport (IATA: CIA, ICAO: LIRA), is an airport facility, named after Giovan Battista Pastine, located south-east of Rome, just beyond the Grande Raccordo Anulare, falling for 3 / 4 in the territory of Rome capital (Z. XX) and 1/4 in the territory of the municipality of Ciampino (formerly the municipality of Marino). The latter part is home to a military airport.

The airport, which in 2017 reached over 5,885,812 passengers, is mainly civilian and is managed by the Aeroporti di Roma company (AdR), together with the Leonardo da Vinci intercontinental airport of Fiumicino, with which forms the Rome airport system with over 46.8 million passengers in 2017.

it is an international airport that absorbs most of the traffic coming from low-cost airlines to some extra-European destinations (Morocco) and to the main European cities. The Enac Ordinance 14/2007 - also issued following the requests of the Municipality of Ciampino and the former 10th Municipality of Rome (today VII Municipality) to reduce the noise pollution of the area - limits the maximum number of daily air movements for the airport.

it is also the main base of the CL-415 firefighting aircraft fleet of the National Civil Protection and is accessed from the SS7 via Appia.
